Mike Marshall’s first events were reliability trials in the 1960s. His first stage rally was the 1970 Shell Silver Fern driving a 1600cc Ford Anglia. He led from stage one but a navigating error on a touring stage cost him the lead after missing several stages. Subsequent results: 1971 Heatway Rally third overall; 1972 Dukeries Rally England eighth overall; 1973 Heatway Rally second overall; 1973 Snowman Rally Scotland third overall and the 1975 Heatway Rally first overall.

2011 Ford Fiesta V6 4WD:

This interesting car was built in Scotland by Roy Smith with the intention of contesting the MSA and Irish Tarmac Championships.  A health issue forced a change of plans and Mike Marshall bought the car unused and unsorted.  Mike shipped the car to New Zealand via Barbados where son Nick drove it in two events.  An overheating engine forced it out of Rally Barbados after winning the Group B class in the ‘King of the Hill’ even.  The car has a 4000cc, VQ 35 Nissan engine fitted longitudinally driving through a Maktrak driveline.  The parts used were a combination of Fiesta WRC and Escort WRC.  The engine is new built by Harris Performance Engineering and this is the first event.
