Gene started his motorsport career at aged 6, coming through the NZ karting ranks and winning five national titles on his way to his first single-seater race at age 17. After competing successfully locally and internationally, Gene moved into the world of touring car racing by age 20. Selected by a professional race team, he competed as the youngest driver in the NZV8 category, at the time the largest and premier championship in the country. Over the next few years Gene competed at the Nurburgring 24-hour race in Germany (winning his class), Fujitsu V8 Supercars in Australia (including Bathurst), V8 Supertourers, Porsche GT3 Cup, Sports & GT, etc, adding a number of career wins and championships along the way. More recently Gene has been competing in the national Endurance Series in various GT3 machinery, notably a Ferrari 458 GT3 and an Audi R8 GT3. Having won the NZ title, he should be more than capable of putting on a good show in the Audi RS TT VLN!

This particular car, unaltered from factory specifications, was driven by Robb Holland in 2016 and set the record time for FWD cars up Pikes Peak shattering the previous record by nearly a minute clocking in at 10:56.878.
