Brendan is a Putaruru local and has been involved with many types of motorsports since he was a child from Motorcross, Jet Sprints and 4×4 trials to circuit racing. He races with the New Zealand Rotary Racing Enthusiasts and last season won the overall championship. His other interests include 4 wheel driving so when he’s not on the track he’s deep in the bush. This will be his second time racing at Leadfoot.

Brendan McGovern - 1974 Datsun 1200 Sedan

1974 Datsun 1200 Sedan:

The Datsun was purchased off a local family stock standard 18 years ago and was rebuilt over 10 years by Brendan and some friends in his shed. It now sports a rotary 12a Turbo with custom porting, and a RX8 gearbox, full custom tube rear end running a Hilux diff and 4 link rear suspension. The car is fully certified and is also road legal so he can still take it to the supermarket.
