He is the proud owner of the two GM Dealer team cars originally owned by Sir Colin Giltrap and raced in the 1982 Benson and Hedges Saloon Car series and driven by Denny Hulme, Peter Brock, David Oxton and Peter Janson. You can easily spot Darren in the paddock wearing his original Bruce McLaren racing team uniform from the 1970’s.

1982 Holden Commodore SS:

This car was originally owned new by Sir Colin Giltrap and raced in the 1982 New Zealand Benson and Hedges Saloon Car Series by 1967 Formula One World Champion Denny Hulme and Australian Peter Janson. It was part of a two car General Motors Dealer Team effort with the sister car driven by David Oxton and Peter Brock. This sister car is also owned by Darren. The car runs a worked 308 V8 in conjunction with production spec running gear. It is 1 of only 30 cars made in New Zealand with the aim to win the series.
