Brett grew up watching John Wolfe, Possum Bourne and Rod Millen. Brett’s first rally car was a Datsun 1200, driven in club events. 1997 Brett did his first rally in a self-built Mazda RX7, racing every year including Race to the sky in 2000.
In 2004 Rod Millen drove Bretts Wynns Mazda RX7 in the Otago Classic Rally, a fond memory. Today he returns to Leadfoot having raced here 3 times before.

1964 Austin A40 Farina:
The A40 has competed in hill climbs and sprints with both Hamilton and Taupo Car Clubs. In 2011 it competed at the Chris Amon Festival of Speed. In 2013 and 2015 Brett brought the Farina to competed at the Leadfoot Festival qualifying in the top 10 shoot out for vehicles manufactured pre 1975, finishing a credible 4th position. A 1600 Ford Cross Flow, Kelford Cam and Sump Gates, GT Head Compression 12.1, Electronic Ignition. All 4 Wheel Disc Brake. Weighs a mere 760kg.
